Play a character, learn a language

Language is a vital part of connection across cultures. Creative collaboration with language education has been part of our company’s practice for many years.

Our Foreign Languages Through Theatre workshops encourage students of any age and level to develop their knowledge of foreign languages in a fun and creative way. We currently offer Italian, French, Spanish, German, and Mandarin.

Inhibitions and fears often kick in when we try to speak a foreign language, but these are easily forgotten when playing a character. Students are focused purely on the situation, on how to communicate, on the story to tell, and feel more compelled to actively express themselves.

Theatrical games are key to our sessions. Releasing physical tension, playing, singing, are all ways to see the foreign language as a moment of fun and communication. 

Finally, working as a group towards the performance of a short scene helps confidence and encourages team building.

All our workshops can be adapted to meet your specific needs in terms of content and level. We offer these workshops for a large variety of ages, from secondary school into adulthood.
